| ANCS (Advanced Naval Combat
System) is a COTS based naval combat system produced by EADS, Ulm, Germany.
EADS currently have a contract to install ANCS on board the Finnish Navy
Rauma class off shore patrol boats (known as S2000). The system has a
comprehensive air defence and ASuW capability.
Each Ship’s System comprises 6 Multi-Function Operator
Consoles, 2 Systems Cabinets, a Large Screen Display, Projector and Printer.
The Systems Cabinets provide the interfaces to the Ship’s weapon systems
and sensors, performing all the processing and data, video and radar distribution.
The overall system is connected together via a fibre-optic based dual
Ethernet LAN and is backed up by the UPS located in the Cabinets.
All electronics is selected from standard State of the Art COTS products
enabling an off the shelf Linux Operating System to be employed. Ultra
also provide the System Start-up and BITE functionality in addition to
the CORBA Infrastructure providing proxy software interfaces to a number
of the Ships interfaces.
Ultra offers a system engineering service to EADS designing,
defining and supplying all the computer hardware and software infrastructure
to meet EADS requirements.
